Résumé

JEFF KOONS. SHINE IN FLORENCE. 2 October 2021 – 30 January 2022.

Abstract

This review offers a brief account of the exhibition titled Jeff Koons. Shine at the Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, where from October 2, 2021, to January 30, 2022, thirty-three of the most important works of Jeff Koons from the mid-seventies until today are presented to the public. Through the theme of Shine, the artist questions our relation to reality and the work of art. This paper explores the relation between the concept of Shine and the theory of the beholder's share or the role of the viewer in the creation of the work of art, introduced to Koons by the Nobel laureate Eric Kandel, and developed during his artist residency at the Columbia University’s Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute in 2017.

Keywords: Jeff Koons, Shine, Beholder’s Share, Florence.
