Studies in Canadian Literature (SCL) is a biannual, bilingual journal devoted to the study of Canadian literature in English and French, and published at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. SCL is peer-reviewed, and welcomes submissions on all aspects of Canadian literature.

    Announcing the Winner of the 2023 Herb Wyile Prize in Canadian Literature

    The winner of this year’s Herb Wyile Prize in Canadian Literature is Billy Johnson for his essay “A.B. Walker’s Neith (1903-04) and the Aesthetic Grammars of Black Modernism in Canada,” published in issue 47.2.

    The winning article was selected by a committee of two adjudicators – Cornel Bogle (Simon Fraser) and Shane Neilson (McMaster) – from among the essays that appear in SCL/ÉLC's two issues published in 2023. The prize has a value of $500.

    Call for Papers — (Re)Reading Race and Colonialism in the Québec and Franco-Canadian Literary Canons

    Studies in Canadian Literature / Études en littérature canadienne (SCL/ÉLC) invites interdisciplinary contributions to a special issue on Québécois and Franco-Canadian Literature.

    We welcome submissions of essays of 6000-8000 words, including Notes and Works Cited, on topics related to this general theme. English contributions should conform to the MLA Handbook, 8th edition; French submissions to Le guide du rédacteur (Translation Bureau, 1996).

    Submissions should be sent via Word attachment to scl@unb.ca.

    Deadline for submissions is 1 April 2024.
