Abstract
Emplaced community is fundamental in the experience of Patria (1966-present), where the social and geographical location conditions experience, formation, and function. Drawing on fieldwork from the 2007 production of The Princess of the Stars, this article explores the variables that shape and influence the cultural practice of Patria, the types of relationships formed on-site between community members, the impact of the physical and sensory architecture of place, the community’s goals, and the diverse interactions that occur during the practice of Patria as a result of the spoken and unspoken expectations placed on the members of the performance community.- The author retains copyright over the work.
