Abstract

This article explores the politics and musical representations of the urban night in a network of Franco-German punk, queer, and feminist festivals. First, I analyse how these festivals take inspiration from the feminist movements of the 1970s to fight the gendered violence that can occur in urban night spaces. Second, I explore how concerts can be places of physical or sexual violence and demonstrate how the events studied herein equally work to create safe spaces for members of minority groups.
