The Sparrow (1990) and Marshall (1999) decisions have broadened non-Aboriginal Canadians' knowledge of the scope of treaties between the British Crown and First Nations. At the same time, the general public's knowledge of Canadian history, historically based on prejudice, exclusion and racism towards First Nations, has profoundly evolved in recent years. In the spirit of reconciliation, in partnership with the community of Elsipogtog and in collaboration with the Maritime Fishermen's Union, we propose to evaluate the impact of those decisions on the economy, the employment, and the development of First Nations.
