Irwin Cotler, McGill University

Irwin Cotler, MP, B.A. (McGill), B.C.L. (McGill), LL.M. (Yale), LL.D. (Bar-Ilan), LL.D. (York), LL.D. (Simon Fraser), Ph.D. (Haifa), Ph.D. (Hebrew University). Professor Cotler served as Canada’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice from December 2003 to January 2006. He is currently official Opposition Critic for Human Rights, a member of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on International Human Rights, and a member of the House of Commons Committee on Public Safety and National Security. He is on leave as a Professor of Law at McGill University, where he is Director of its Human Rights Programme, and Chair of InterAmicus, the McGill-based International Human Rights Advocacy Centre.
