Abstract
Robert B. Klymasz décrit un rite ukrainien associé au solstice d'hiver dans lequel figurait un personnage comique féminin connu sous le nom de Malanka. Ce rite comprend des costumes, des chants, des dances, des farces et de nombreux autres divertissements. Les chansons, de nature contradictoires, laissent supposer quelles faisaient partie des préliminaires dun rituel daccouplement. Les anciennes activités du Malanka ont été remplacées par des chants de Noël; mais plus récemment les communautés ukrainiennes ont raviré la tradition Malanka lors de soupers et dances du Nouvel An.- The author retains copyright over the work.
- The author grants the journal owner (The Canadian Society for Traditional Music / La Société canadienne pour les traditions musicales) an exclusive license to publish the work.
