Author Biographies

Anthony Dickinson, Memorial University

Anthony Dickinson is a retired professor and honorary research associate of the department of biology, Memorial University. He obtained practical experience of industrial whaling while overseeing the elephant sealing activities of Taiyo Fisheries on South Georgia for the government of the Falkland Islands. His PhD, gained through Scott Polar Research Institute, University of Cambridge, details the history of sealing in the islands and dependencies. He has written extensively on these topics.

Chesley Sanger, Memorial University

Chesley Sanger is professor emeritus at Memorial University of Newfoundland. His ongoing research interests include, Scottish Arctic Whaling, the Newfoundland Seal Fishery, and Modern Shore-Station Whaling in Newfoundland and Labrador.
