The Use of Expatriate Managers in International Joint Ventures
Abstract
This study developed a set of hypotheses concerning factors that influence the use of expatriate managers in international joint ventures' (IJVs). These hypotheses were tested on a sample drawn from U.S. firms' IJVs in Japan. Results from the empirical tests indicate that the use of expatriate managers is significantly affected by IJV age and IJV size, but not U.S. firms' size and R&D intensity.Published
