Abstract

Multibeam bathymetry systems produce data volumes which have swamped the highly labour intensive cleaning procedures often used in hydrography. In this paper we describe a Hydrographic Data Cleaning System (HDCS) designed to speed up the data cleaning process. The principle of HDCS is to allow full user control and access to all data parameters, while also implementing algorithms that automatically highlight problem areas and display them graphically on screen. A highly interactive graphical user interface allows the rapid editing of data in those problem areas.
