This prize is awarded annually to the best essay published in Studies in Canadian Literature/Études en littérature canadienne over the previous calendar year. The value of the prize is $500. The winning essay will be chosen on the basis of the quality of the research and writing, the originality of the argument, and the article’s potential impact on the field of Canadian literature.

A committee of three adjudicators will be appointed by the editor(s) of SCL/ÉLC each spring to review essays from the previous calendar year. Prize winners will be announced in the summer or fall. The winner will be contacted by the editor(s) of the journal. His/her name will be posted on the SCL/ÉLC website and announced in the subsequent issue.
