1 The ninth Atlantic Canada Workshop has been announced for 28-30 September 1989 at the Gorsebrook Research Institute of St. Mary's University in Halifax. The themes for the workshop are "Women, Community, and Culture." While topics related to the experiences of women in Atlantic Canada will receive particular attention, other papers will deal with communities in transition and research methodologies. The workshop is an undertaking of the students of the region and acts as a forum in which individuals (professionals, students and general scholars) engaged in research may present their interim findings in an informal and interactive atmosphere. Although the proceedings are interdisciplinary, material culture specialists have been well represented at recent meetings. 2 The Canadian Urban History Association will be holding its annual fall meeting in conjunction with the Atlantic Canada Workshop. CUHA will meet on the 29-30 September 1989 and hold joint sessions with the workshop on 30 September. The theme of the CUHA papers is "Cities and Regions." Proposals for papers are still welcome for the CUHA sessions.
