The Tool and Trades History Society (TATHS) was founded in 1983 in order to further knowledge and understanding of hand tools, of their use, and of the trades and craftsmen that used them. Membership is open to all and provides opportunities for meeting others interested in hand tools, from antiquity up to the recent past, and also in the skills and techniques exercised by craftsmen who worked wood, iron, leather, stone, and other natural materials.
2 Membership: £10 per annum. Members receive a regular Newsletter giving information of meetings, exhibitions, publications, and other matters of topical interest. They also receive the Journal, which contains articles of lasting importance as well as reviews of all relevant books.

Editor's Note: "A Research Tool for Studying the Canadian Glass Industry," in Material History Bulletin 18 (Fall 1983) described 9,000 reference cards, in preparation by T.B. King, dealing with all aspects of the Canadian glass industry. Originally expected to be available to researchers in 1984, this material is now scheduled to be ready for consultation, at the Public Archives of Canada, with copies at the History Division, National Museum of Man, in 1985.
