These recent arrivals are calling into question the idea that migrants leave their country primarily for economic reasons. Although they previously held well-paid jobs in Europe, they chose to relocate to the calm, safe and family-friendly small cities of our province where they expect a better lifestyle. Over time, however, they are forced to face the fact that they cannot survive indefinitely on their savings.
