The global wine industry has undergone a significant transformation, redefining the traditional boundaries between the “Old World” and “New World” (Villanueva et al., 2023). Argentina’s role in this shift is particularly noteworthy. Historically, the Argentine industry was a high-volume, domestically oriented producer of bulk wine with a negligible international presence (Merino, 2019). However, starting in the 1990s, the sector underwent a radical “Export Emergence,” driven by a shift from commodity-grade table wine to high-quality, differentiated varietals, most notably Malbec (Artopoulos et al., 2013).
