Vol.9 No.2 July 1998
Some additional changes have taken place on the Editorial Board since the last issue.
Dr. Peter Murphy, University of Alberta, Canada, has indicated his wish to step down from his position on the Board. He recently retired from his faculty position, and is now enjoying being a private consultant to the forest industry. As one of the founding members of this Journal, we are deeply indebted to him for his consistent support and contrubion, especially in the formative years. We wish him well in his new ventures.
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Reino Pulkki, Professor of Forestry and chairperson of the Department of Forest Management, Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, has agreed to join the Board. Dr. Pulkki obtained his early forestry education in Canada, and his advanced degrees at the University of Helsinki, Finland. He has been a research consultant to Jaakko Poyry Oy, a winner of the Canadian Insitute of Forestry (CIF) Gold medal, and the Canadian representative on forestry committees on the ILO and the FAO. We welcome him to the Journal, and thank him for his acceptance of our invitation to serve on the Board.
We are approaching our tenth year of publication, and are planning special issues to celebrate this anniversary. We have chosen to recognise this occasion with a theme:
FOREST ENGINEERING -- LOOKING AHEAD TEN YEARS
We anticipate a series of contributions exploring the trends and changes forecasted to occur in our profession into the near future. We would welcome your personal contribution to this themes, especially as it relates to your unique part of the world and its forests.
