Greetings . . .

We are pleased to welcome to the Editorial Board Dr. Bostjan Kosir, a member of the Slovenian Forest Institute, and the Biotechnical Faculty at the University of Ljubljana. As well as his teaching and research responsibilities, Dr. Kosir travels widely both in Europe and North America, and is a very active contributor to Division 3 of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO). We are confident that his lifetime of interest and work in forestry and forest operations will prove to be an important addition to the expert resources we draw on through our board members.

Exactly one year ago, we asked you to look forward to the exciting possibility of having the Journal on the World Wide Web. On schedule, we are pleased to announce that our Home Page is ready to go, and can be found at:

http://www.lib.unb.ca/Texts/JFE/

This initiative has been pushed forward by the Harriet Irving Library at the University of New Brunswick, and we are indebted to them, in particular Alan Burk, the Associate Director of this library, for their hard work in bringing this project to this point. Much work remains to be completed before we can boast of a "virtual" journal, but those of you who visit this site will already be able to browse most of the technical papers in Volume 8, No. 1. General information about the Journal and the ability to renew your subscription on-line will be available very soon.

We would appreciate your comments about this home page, your ease of access, and the availability and usefulness of the information displayed.

We want to apologize to those subscribers, particularly libraries, for the confusion surrounding the change-over in the beginning of our subscription year from July to January. We never anticipated that this change would cause so much disruption. We believe now that most subscribers have received further instructions from us to clarify this issue. Volume 7, No. 3 was produced and mailed to all subscribers free of charge, so that their subscription received in the middle of 1996 could be applied to the calendar year 1997, Volume 8, No. 1 (January) and No. 2 (July). Future subscriptions will be due by January of each year to cover that year's two issues.

Managing Editor

Corrections:

In the last issue of the Journal (Vol. 8, No. 1), there were three errors in the paper entitled "Static Equilibrium of the Triangular Running Skyline System: A Three Dimensionally Movable Cable System" by Y. Suzuki, E.S. Miyata, and S.C. Iverson. The errors were:

1. The third author's name, S.C. Iverson, did not appear on the Cover page nor on the Content page.

2. The reference [14] was not listed in the Literature Cited (p. 62). It should be printed as follows:

[14] Taguchi, G. 1977. Jikken-Keikaku-Hou (The Design of Experiments), Vols. I and II. 3rd Edition. Maruzen, Tokyo. 1095 pp. (In Japanese.)

3. The volume and pages of [12] was not referenced. It should have been:

[12] . . . Computers and Structures 60:579-592.

We apologize to the authors for these unfortunate errors.
