He shows that a distinctive sense of belonging as well as an Acadian national consciousness has always prevailed in the region since the last quarter of the 19th century. He concludes by arguing that the appropriation of the pejorative term “brayonˮ, as constructed largely by tourism promoters, represents – in the absence of any political project – a strictly economic form of regionalism.</em> ER -
