P.A. BUCKNER was the founding editor of Acadiensis in 1971. He was recently appointed Professor Emeritus at the University of New Brunswick and is currently a visiting professor at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies at the University of London. JAMES K. HILLER is a member of the Department of History, Memorial University of Newfoundland; he is the co-author with Margaret Conrad of a forthcoming illustrated history of Atlantic Canada. COLIN D. HOWELL is a member of the Department of History and executive director of the Gorsebrook Research Institute, Saint Mary’s University; his new book, Blood, Sweat and Cheers: Sport and the Making of Modern Canada, will be published next year. The former head of the Departments of English at Mount Allison and Acadia Universities, GWENDOLYN DAVIES was recently appointed Dean of Graduate Studies at the University of New Brunswick; her publications include Studies in Maritime Literary History (Acadiensis Press, 1991). JUDITH FINGARD, FRSC was a member of the Department of History, Dalhousie University for 30 years; she is currently participating in a team project on women, work and social policy in Halifax. The author of numerous influential studies in regional history, E.R. FORBES was a member of the Department of History, University of New Brunswick from 1974 until his retirement in 1999. D.A. MUISE is a member of the Department of History, Carleton University and served as co-editor, with E.R. Forbes, of The Atlantic Provinces in Confederation (Acadiensis Press, 1993). GERALD FRIESEN is a member of the Department of History, University of Manitoba; his most recent book is Citizens and Nation: An Essay on History, Communication, and Canada (2000). A recent contributor to Acadiensis, P.D. CLARKE is an independent scholar and student of Acadian society and history who lives in northern New Brunswick; he is currently engaged in research on contemporary Maritime historiography. MARTIN PÂQUET est professeur adjoint en histoire à l’Université de Moncton; il a reçu son doctorat en histoire de l’Université Laval et spécialise en anthropologie historique et en histoire de la culture politique du Québec. LIANNE McTAVISH is a member of the Department of History, University of New Brunswick, where she specializes in the history of visual culture; she has recently published articles in Cultural Studies and the Woman’s Art Journal.
